God is a woman // Ariana Grande

God is a woman has honestly been my favorite song released in 2018. We love a female power anthem.

High Horse // Kacey Musgraves

Most of my favorite music is high energy but I do have a soft spot for something soft & acoustic — Golden Hour has been that album for me recently. An atypical choice if we’re being real. My musical taste is spread across most genres, but country is far & few in my Spotify. I enjoy the country music my grandparents listened to, but I find the modern take to be immensely repetitive. Kacey Musgraves is a breath of fresh air, her vintage blend of country & pop is seamless & alluring.

Edge of Darkness // Greta Van Fleet

Greta Van Fleet is the best new band I have heard in a long while. How these guys are so young with so much soul is incredible. The way they’ve presented their Zeppelin-esque sound is parallel to how Lana Del Rey transports us to the 1950’s with each record she releases. I think Greta Van Fleet has the rare power to unite opposing generations of music lovers.

Tune in next month to find out what I’ve been loving

songs of the week // august 25th, 2017

This week I’m listening to:

Kesha_-_Rainbow_(Official_Album_Cover)

Hunt You Down // Kesha

Naturally, I’m still listening to Rainbow. Hunt You Down is the song that surprised me the most off this record. It’s has a 50’s country / Johnny Cash vibe to it, which is incredibly unique in comparison to the music of today.

Galway Girl // Ed Sheeran

Another one of my favorite releases of this year was Ed Sheeran’s Divide. I still find myself listening to this on repeat for a few days at a time.

Just a Girl // No Doubt

Gwen Stefani was one of the first artists to inspire me. I’ll never forget when she stormed onto the scene in 2004 with her solo debut Love. Angel. Music Baby. At first, I didn’t know she fronted an alt rock band, but when I did she became one of my idols & that’s never changed. If I could pick a theme song to play for my life, it would undoubtedly be Just a Girl.
